When it comes to your quest to on the sickness, wellness, fitness continuum, mindset is key! This week, the Always Forward Mindset is going to delve into the neurons of one Coach, Scooter Houston. We all know Coach Scooter, and we have all worked out beside him, including a tremendous numbers of events, like Murph. What make Coach Scooter tick? What drives him to get into the gladiatorial arena of a large-scale Crossfit competition like the Big Orange Brawl? To start the conversation, we simply asked Coach Scooter three things. 1) What were you thinking when you made the decision to sign up for the Big Orange Brawl 2019? 2) What drove you in your preparation for the event? 3) How did you feel mentally during the event? His responses were insightful, heart-felt, and applicable to so many of us. Coach Scooter's explains his mindset! When I signed up for the Big Orange Brawl, my thought processes were solely on pushing my body, and my mind to the next level; and to win. In order to do that I had to step outside of my comfort zone, and allow myself to find comfort in the uncomfortable. My drive came from my family, gym members, all the underdogs, and people who don’t have faith in themselves simply because they have believed the lie that Society, the devil, or other people have told them. That they can’t make it, simply because of who they are, where they are from, or their socioeconomic status. I always want to be the voice for the people without one, and show people they don’t have to be a statistic, or certain stereotype to do or be what they want to be. During the competition it was very hard physically and mentally and I had moments where I second guessed my want to and drive. I never do anything not to lose and when I started having those thoughts I quickly reminded myself that I come to win and as long as I kept that though it would be ok, even if I didn’t as long as I gave my all. I did not win and needed that lose to drive me to continue the process to grind and stay hungry towards my goals!!! I wouldn’t have changed anything with my pre-comp mindset but I would have focused more during the comp on staying in my zone and just doing me without worrying or carrying about anyone else. Nobody can do you, better than you can do you. Next week, we will be discussing the Always Forward Mindset with MCF Coach, Podcast Extraordinaire, and Competitor Jamison Price. As we develop the Always Forward Mindset, we will be expanding the depth of our interview, and how to develop the mindset within you. This process isn't designed to make you adopt somebody else's mindset as your own, but to help you develop the mindset within you!

This year's event, held in Madison Wisconsin, found the 2nd man in Crossfit History to be named the Fittest Man on Earth 4 years in a row, while crowning the first ever three peat women's champion. Crossfit Mayhem, took the team competition with a huge point spread.
Normally, once the Crossfit Games concludes, we have an off season for which we prepare ourselves for the next years competitive season. This year, the conclusion of the games opens the prep season for the Crossfit Open. The 2019-2020 Crossfit Open season begins in October. In fact, Crossfit has released the date for the first open workout announcement, October 10th. As of today, that means we have 64 days (8 weeks) before we open the doors to Mossy Creek Fitness and our 2nd series of Friday Night Lights! The gym floor will turn into a crazy competitive environment in which each of you will change from Bruce Banner into the Hulk. For me, this is an exciting time of the year. During the Open Prep season, we start to see programming in the gym that helps us focus on our weaknesses and develop a balanced level of fitness prior to competition. While programming will begin to focus on the physical holes in your competitive holes, we are going to build the competitive mindset. Over the next 8 weeks, we will be discussing the competitive mindset with some of our athletes. We are going to be talking with many of our recent competitors to see what made them compete, and what they used to develop the competitive fire that drove them to sign-up and finish the events. What will drive you to compete in the upcoming Crossfit Open, and how can we help you develop the competitive mindset you desire. What is KidsFit?
KidsFit is an exciting and fun way for kids to exercise and learn healthy lifestyle habits. We will focus on good movement, having fun, teamwork, and confidence building. The program will be based primarily on strength training, running, drills, games, bodyweight exercises, tumbling, etc. Each workout, your kids will learn and practice functional movements involving exercises that are fundamental to all things that kids need to do when they play. They will participate in fun and engaging workouts that deliver measurable results and prepare them to be well-rounded athletes. They will pull, push, run, throw, climb, lift, and jump. There will be drills designed to help develop critical thinking and reasoning skills, instill confidence, and learn the value of leadership and teamwork. Your kids will learn healthy lifestyle practices that will last a lifetime. Our KidsFit classes will provide an environment that celebrates the abilities and successes of every child, at every ability level, and of every body type. We will combat the notion that there are ideal body types, shapes, and sizes. We will teach the kids to understand that every body is capable of amazing things. We want to build the confidence in every kid we meet to be comfortable in his/her own skin. Our KidsFit provides physical and emotional benefits for your child and promotes fitness as a lifestyle. Enrolling your child in a well rounded program like CrossFit will show them that health and fitness is something that you prioritize and want to educate them about.
